Job Description
OhioHealth is seeking a compassionate Speech Pathologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders across diverse care settings. You'll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans, provide caregiver education, and document progress. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive assessment of speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing disorders using standardized tools and clinical observation Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for adult and/or pediatric patients Provide one-on-one and group speech-language and swallowing therapy to improve functional communication and safe oral intake Educate patients, families, and caregivers on diagnosis, treatment plans, compensatory strategies, and home exercise programs Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, case managers, and other team members to coordinate care and support discharge planning Document assessments, goals, treatment sessions, and progress in the electronic medical record in a timely and accurate manner Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives Adhere to regulatory, ethical, and reimbursement standards and comply with hospital and departmental policies Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education to maintain licensure and certifications Demonstrate cultural competence and support Ohio Health's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and compassionate care Required Skills Speech-language assessment and diagnosis Swallowing and dysphagia evaluation and management Treatment planning and goal setting Therapeutic intervention for speech, language, voice, and cognitive-communication disorders Use of standardized assessment tools and outcome measures Videofluoroscopic swallow study (VFSS) or FEES interpretation (as applicable) Patient and family education Interdisciplinary care coordination Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation Time management and caseload prioritization Knowledge of evidence-based practice in speech-language pathology Understanding of rehabilitation and acute care protocols Cultural competence and trauma-informed communication Basic Life Support (BLS) skills
