Provide excellence in education by identifying, selecting, scheduling, and providing therapy for students having communication difficulties. Speech-Language Therapist to work during our Extended School Year/Summer Program Monday-Friday from 8am-noon. June 10 - July 2, 2026. No school June 19. Preparation and plan time included as directed by the summer school principal.Job Summary:
Possesses knowledge of District policies and regulations relating to areas of responsibilities. Develops and implements activities that encourage students to be life-long learners. Meets and instructs assigned caseload in the locations and at the times designated. Creates a therapy environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental maturity and interests of the students. Provides mandated Individualized Education Program services including: goals and objectives, accommodations, collaboration with teachers and specialists Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress toward those goals. Advocates for students, providing frequent communication with parents and staff. Collaborates with special education, grade level, and district level teams in providing speech-language services. Provides consultation to teachers, related service staff members, administrators, and parents related to speech-language development, as needed. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent to meet the needs and capabilities of individuals or student groups, recognizing the physical limitations of the space provided. Demonstrates knowledge of special education legislation and acts in accordance with those mandates; follows established school, district, state and federal procedures, policies, rules, and regulations; follows state speech-language guidelines. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.Additional Job Functions:
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in their work with students receiving speech-language services. Participates in various meetings (e.g. parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information and/or meeting legal requirements. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. Maintains professional competence through participation in District provided in-service activities and/or self-selected professional growth activities related to job responsibilities. Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements:
Appropriate Bachelor's Degree; Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Valid Illinois Teaching or School Personnel Certificate with Speech-Language Endorsement. Successful intern experience required; experience as a speech-language therapist preferred. Specialized training as needed. Valid First Aid/CPR Cards preferred.Physical Requirements:
Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences. About theDistrict:
