Job Summary:

The Speech and Language Pathologist provides services to students with speech and language needs to support their ability to access and benefit from the educational environment. This role focuses on prevention, assessment, intervention, and collaboration to improve students' communication skills, including articulation, language, fluency, and voice. The Speech and Language Pathologist works collaboratively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success in both general and special education settings.

Essential Duties and Specific Responsibilities:

Screen and evaluate students to determine speech and language needs. Provide therapy services using a variety of service delivery models (individual, small group, and classroom-based). Develop and implement intervention plans aligned with IEP goals. Deliver evidence-based therapy using a variety of instructional strategies Support students in articulation, language development, fluency, and social communication Adapt materials and approaches to meet diverse learning needs Maintain required documentation in accordance with IDEA, ISBE, and district policies Ensure timelines for evaluations, IEPs, and progress reporting are met Utilize district systems for service tracking and reporting Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and specialists to support student needs. Participate in problem-solving teams and intervention processes. Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed. Complete all required documentation for evaluations, IEPs, and compliance purposes. Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff regarding progress. Provide consultation to staff on instructional strategies for students with communication needs. Support the development of a safe and positive learning environment. Maintain accurate caseload records and service documentation. Participate in staff development, school improvement activities, and district initiatives. Participate in required events outside the regular workday (e.g., conferences, open houses). Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Certification, and Licensure:

Master's Degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology required. Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Speech-Language Pathologist endorsement required. Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) licensure required.

Professional Experience and Skills:

Experience working with students ages 3-21 in general and special education settings. Knowledge of speech and language disorders, including articulation, fluency, voice, and language development. Ability to assess, diagnose, and implement appropriate intervention strategies. Strong collaboration and communication skills with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with IEP requirements. Knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and best practices. Strong organizational and time management skills.

Student Support, Engagement, and Staff Development:

Support students in developing effective communication skills for academic and social success. Collaborate with staff to implement accommodations and strategies for communication needs. Provide consultation and training to staff on speech and language supports. Promote inclusive practices and equitable access to services. Support student engagement and social-emotional development. Partner with families and provide resources to support communication at home. Success Indicators (First Three-to-Five Years): Improved student communication skills and progress toward IEP goals. Timely and compliant completion of evaluations, documentation, and service logs. Effective collaboration with staff and families to support student success.
