Qualifications:
Issued Illinois Professional Educator License A Speech Language Pathologist endorsement is required A master's degree from a program accredited by the American Speech-Language Association is required Ability to train students, staff, and parents on augmentative communication devices and assistive technology Responsibilities /
Duties:
Must perform all responsibilities, classroom and supervisory, in a professional manner as expected of all district educators. Provide high-quality direct speech-language therapy services to high school students according to students' IEPs and 504 plans. Conduct assessments, analyze results, and write reports to determine strengths and concerns in the areas of speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, and language development. Train students, staff, and parents on augmentative communication devices and assistive technology. Coordinate or serve as a member of an educational planning team. Serve as a resource to school staff members in developing a balanced program for oral communication, language skills, and speech improvement. Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff to implement therapy recommendations in students' daily activities. Increase parents' understanding and participation in resolving their student's needs and informing them of appropriate resources available. Responsible for writing and implementing individual education plans and goals, goal updates, and speech/language evaluations. Attend IEP meetings, re-evaluations, and evaluations as assigned. Maintain accurate and timely records to monitor student progress. Assess student progress towards targets and standards to provide feedback to students, parents, and educational teams. Understanding various formal and informal assessment strategies and using them to support the continuous development of students. Perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the Director of Special Education. Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (involving the ability to stoop, bend, and reach as needed). Ability to occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.
