Job Goals:
Assessing and treating communication disorders in individuals, fostering effective communication skills, and collaborating with educators and parents to create a supportive environment that enhances language development and overall communication abilities. Additionally, providing personalized intervention strategies to help individuals overcome speech and language challenges, promoting their academic and social success.
Supervision:
Reports directly to Building Principal/Director of Student Services
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
To identify, evaluate and provide therapy for those students identified with speech and/or language deficits. Serves as a resource to school staff with regards to student identified with speech and/or language needs including, but not limited to, collaboration and consultation with teachers. Identifies, selects and administers appropriate formal and informal assessment instruments in diagnosing speech, voice, hearing and language impairments. Participates in the screening process to identify those students suspected of having a speech and/or language impairment. Attends and participates in referral and Team Meetings. Acts as a liaison for identified students with speech and/or language impairments as designated by the TEAM or TEAM chairperson. Writes individualized educational plans (IEP's) as appropriate and deemed by the Director of Special education or designee. Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with others. Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, colleagues, and parents
