In this vital role, you will assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders across diverse geriatric population, including adult early intervention services. Your expertise will help residents develop essential speech, language, and social communication skills, empowering them to reach their full potential. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to identify speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders in geriatric patients. Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each residents unique needs, utilizing current best practices in speech therapy. Provide engaging therapy sessions focused on improving speech clarity, language comprehension, social communication skills, and oral motor functions. Collaborate closely with families, caregivers and multidisciplinary teams to support consistent progress and reinforce therapy goals for our residents. Monitor patient progress regularly; adjust treatment strategies as needed to ensure optimal outcomes. Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, therapy sessions, progress notes, and treatment plans in compliance with healthcare regulations. Stay informed about advancements in speech-language pathology techniques and Geriatric development to enhance patient care. Experience Prior experience working with geriatric populations in nursing home settings or clinical environments is highly preferred. Demonstrated expertise in speech therapy techniques tailored for geriatrics with diverse needs. Knowledge of physiology related to speech production and swallowing functions is essential. Familiarity with medical terminology and anatomy relevant to speech-language pathology enhances assessment accuracy. Experience conducting patient assessments for early intervention programs is a strong plus. Ability to communicate effectively with adults of various ages as well as their families. A proactive approach to patient care combined with a passion for supporting resident developmental milestones through evidence-based practices.
