A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.
HEROES Physical Therapy in Allegan, MI is looking for a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our growing multidisciplinary team. We're looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, thinking creatively, and helping patients communicate, participate, and function more independently in everyday life. This role will primarily include pediatric patients, with opportunities to work with adults as our speech program continues to grow. What Your Work Will Look Like Your caseload will primarily include children with developmental and communication needs, with opportunities to work with adults as our program continues to expand. Pediatric Services You may work with children experiencing: Speech sound and articulation difficulties Expressive and receptive language delays Developmental and early communication delays Social and functional communication challenges Oral-motor and feeding difficulties Feeding and swallowing concerns Children who are non-speaking or minimally speaking Children who use or may benefit from AAC and assistive technology Your work may include: Providing individualized speech and language therapy Supporting children using a variety of communication methods, including speech, gestures, signs, and AAC Exploring and implementing low- and high-tech AAC systems Supporting functional communication across home, school, and community settings Addressing articulation, language, social communication, and early communication skills Providing caregiver education and practical strategies families can use at home Collaborating with OTs and PTs when appropriate Creating sessions that are engaging, motivating, and built around each child's interests and abilities Adult Services Our adult caseload may include individuals experiencing communication, cognitive, or swallowing difficulties related to neurological injuries or conditions.

You might be a great fit if you: Hold a Michigan SLP license or are eligible for Michigan licensure Enjoy working with children and families Have an interest in working with adults with neurological conditions Are comfortable working with patients with diverse communication needs Have an interest in AAC, assistive technology, feeding, or swallowing Are open, curious, and willing to learn new approaches Communicate with families and caregivers in a supportive, down-to-earth way Enjoy collaborating with OTs, PTs, and other professionals Are creative and comfortable adapting therapy to the individual patient Believe progress can look different for every patient Want the opportunity to help build and grow a speech therapy program Pediatric experience is preferred , particularly in AAC, feeding/swallowing, oral-motor therapy, and developmental speech and language disorders.
