Job Description

The Speech Language Pathologist II assesses and treats patients who have speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive disorders. This position is able to effectively and efficiently treat all patients in their clinical practice setting and complete all speech language pathology job functions with minimal guidance. This role requires independent practice in the primary setting and may require mentoring/guidance in complex situations and may have difficulty with cross coverage to other settings. This position initiates communication amongst inter-disciplinary team members, treats familiar patients with confidence, and advocates for their patients and team. Essential Job Function Evaluates and treats all diagnoses and more complex patients. Conducts comprehensive evaluations of patients with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders to analyze their communication and oral motor skills. Participates in the development and implementation of evidence-based, personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patients' goals, and individual needs. Educates patients and their families on treatment plans, home exercises, and self-management techniques to improve recovery outcomes. Monitors and documents patients' progress, treatment outcomes, and responses to interventions so that treatment plans can be adjusted as needed. Collaborates with other in developing and implementing discharge plans and recommendations for continued care. Reports progress and current status to appropriate parties, which may include family members or medical professionals. Assists with orientation and training of new staff, demonstrates an ongoing commitment to improve the performance and skill of co-workers. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Required:
Master's degree in Speech Pathology.
Experience Required:
2 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing Required:
Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship Year Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience Year BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
