Job Description
Category Schools - SLP Job Type Contract Make a real difference supporting high school students with complex communication needs in a collaborative and welcoming environment. This contract opportunity starts August 24th, 2026, and runs through June 4th, 2027, with potential for additional pre- and post-planning days. Flexibility is key—ideal candidates are available for 15 hours per week (2 days), but those seeking either one or more days will also be considered. Your expertise with AAC and speech-generating devices will be essential for a caseload of 25-35 high schoolers, most of whom are on support plans and benefit from alternative communication approaches. You'll work closely with a skilled and compassionate SLP, ensuring students receive attentive, individualized support.
What You'll Bring:
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Current North Carolina State License and Educator Certification Extensive experience with AAC technology, including multiple speech-generating devices Prior work with students with moderate to severe disabilities, preferably in high school settings Strong collaborative spirit and flexibility in a dynamic school environment Ability to provide consultation and indirect support servicesKey Responsibilities:
Support and facilitate student communication through AAC and alternative strategies Collaborate with fellow SLPs, educators, and support staff to develop and implement effective support plans Document progress and maintain compliance with school and state requirements Consult on assistive technology for nonverbal and minimally verbal students This part-time contract can offer a schedule that works for you, and there's potential to combine this role with other school placements to increase your hours.
