About Us:
The Arc of Essex County is a non-profit organization that provides services and programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Our corporate office is in Livingston, NJ, and we have programs in Essex County. The Early Intervention team at the Shapiro Center comprises of early childhood specialists who work together with parents and other family members to maximize the growth and development of children by supporting the advancement of motor, communication, and social skills.Job Summary:
We are currently hiring per diem Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists to join the Shapiro Center team. This position is in a natural environment e.g. home-based, day-care etc.Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Social Workers:
- Assess family needs/strengths and support IFSP development
- Connect families to community resources; make referrals and follow up
- Advocate for families regarding community and educational supports
- Maintain accurate social service reports, session notes, and required documentation
- Provide parent counseling and/or educational programming
- Implement and monitor IFSP goals; attend required 6-month/annual reviews and other meetings
- Manage caseload independently (scheduling, travel within service area, billing/attendance paperwork) Speech Therapists /
Speech Language Pathologists:
- Provide natural environment speech/language services for children ages birth-3
- Deliver therapy to support speech, language, oral-motor development, and feeding needs
- Conduct Early Intervention assessments and implement IFSP goals and outcomes
- Attend required 6-month and annual reviews and collaborate with families and the interdisciplinary team
- Manage caseload independently (scheduling, travel) and complete required notes, progress reports, billing, and attendance documentation Physical therapists:
- Provide natural environment physical therapy services for children ages birth-3
- Deliver therapy to improve gross motor skills, strength, and functional mobility
- Support achievement of age-appropriate gross motor milestones
- Assist with adaptive equipment needs, including orthotics
- Conduct Early Intervention assessments and implement IFSP goals and outcomes Occupational therapists:
- Provide natural environment occupational therapy services for children ages birth-3
- Deliver therapy to improve fine motor skills, sensory processing, strength, and dexterity
- Support functional participation, including daily living skills and listening/following directions
- Conduct Early Intervention assessments and implement IFSP goals and outcomes Education / Work Experience /
Skills:
- Must be Licensed with the State of NJ
- Minimum 1 year working experience with individuals from birth to five years of age who have developmental delays and disabilities
- Valid NJ Driver's License with the ability to become and remain covered under the agency's insurance policy
