A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

What You'll Do:
Conducts appropriate evaluations, assesses home environment (as appropriate), identifies equipment needs relative to speech/language function. Identifies functional speech defects and establishes a plan of care to improve patient's function. Administer diagnostic speech and language evaluations and some basic, informal audio logical assessment in accordance with the plan of care Recommends communication devices/aids as indicated. Prepare a report of each client's diagnostic evaluation and make recommendations Advise, consult and teach appropriate procedures and supportive activities to clients, family members, and other agency staff Provide direct speech service to clients under a provider's plan of care. Records and reports to the provider the client's response to therapy
Qualifications:
Possess certification of clinical competence in speech from the American Speech Language Hearing Association Licensed as a speech therapist in the state in which practicing At least one (1) year of acute care setting or equivalent experience Possess knowledge of principles and practices of speech therapy Complies and maintains current CPR certification.
