Non-Exempt (Hourly) Position Summary The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides skilled speech-language pathology services under physician or qualified provider referral. The SLP evaluates, diagnoses, and treats communication, cognitive-communication, voice, speech, language, and swallowing disorders across the continuum of care. The SLP develops individualized treatment plans designed to maximize patient safety, communication, cognition, swallowing function, and overall quality of life. The setting includes short-term rehabilitation, outpatient therapy and long-term care. The SLP utilizes an understanding of growth and development to assess each patient's age-specific needs and provide evidence-based, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include patient evaluation, treatment planning, reassessment, documentation, patient and caregiver education, discharge planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The SLP promotes Cuba Memorial Hospital (CMH) in a positive and professional manner throughout the organization and within the community. Essential Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive speech-language pathology evaluations using standardized assessments and clinical judgment.
• Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, voice, cognitive-communication, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
• Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable functional goals based on patient needs.
• Provide skilled interventions to improve communication, cognition, swallowing function, and overall independence.
• Perform clinical swallowing evaluations and recommend appropriate diet textures, compensatory strategies, and referrals for instrumental swallowing assessments as indicated.
• Reassess patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
• Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in accordance with facility policies, regulatory requirements, and payer guidelines.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and staff regarding treatment plans, communication strategies, swallowing precautions, home exercise programs, and discharge recommendations.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care planning, family meetings, discharge planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, rehabilitation professionals, dietary services, and other interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Maintain compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain professional competency through continuing education and evidence-based practice.
• Promote CMH in a positive and professional manner within the facility and community.
• Perform other duties as assigned. Education, Training, and Experience
• Master's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Current New York State license or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred or eligibility to complete the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), if applicable.
• Experience in skilled nursing, outpatient rehabilitation, acute care, or hospital rehabilitation is preferred but not required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of dysphagia evaluation and management.
• Ability to perform direct patient care safely and effectively.

• Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Basic computer proficiency and experience with electronic medical records preferred.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to assist patients with transfers, positioning, and mobility as needed using proper body mechanics.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and greater weights with assistance.
• Ability to push and pull wheelchairs and rehabilitation equipment.
• Ability to perform repetitive upper extremity movements and fine motor tasks.
• Ability to respond appropriately during emergency situations.

Supervisory Responsibilities May provide direction and oversight to rehabilitation aides, therapy technicians, students, and ancillary personnel as assigned.

Reports To Director of Rehabilitation Services Pay:

$55.00 - $65.00 per hour
