A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Job Description

New York Center for Child Development has an opening for a Part- Time Speech Language Pathologist to join our team to provide CPSE related services in our center-based program located within West Harlem. NYCCD is a dynamic Committee of Preschool Special Education (CPSE) program dedicated to excellence in education and treatment of young children with special needs. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide speech services for preschool-aged children of age with developmental delays, per the IEP Provide individual or group (1:2) speech services for preschool children of age 3 to 5 years old with developmental delays, following the IEP mandate Write daily session notes and complete quarterly progress and annual reports Maintain effective working relationships with parents and staff

Requirements:

New York State Speech Language Pathologist License or Completing CFY New York State Teacher of Speech and Language Disabilities (TSLD/TSHH)

Qualifications:

Experience working in a preschool setting, preferred Bilingual Spanish, preferred Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
