A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Job Description

Oneida Health is currently seeking a full-time Speech Language Pathologist to work at our Rehabilitation and Extended Care Facility located in Oneida. This position is primarily working out of the Extended Care Rehab including Vent and Tracheostomy Units. There would also be additional coverage at the Oneida Health Hospital in the Medical Surgical, ICU, and Radiology departments. Come for the Salary, Stay for the

Diagnosing and treating speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders with interest in dysphagia management and interest in cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation for geriatric populations. Demonstrating strong interpersonal communication skills through collaborating as an effective and efficient member of the inter-professional team. Maintaining appropriate documentation of all speech therapy evaluations, re-evaluations, progress notes, care plans, treatment notes, consultations, and discharge summaries. Shadowing and/or training for dysphagia management in Vent and Tracheostomy Unit patients as needed.
