A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

  • Acute Care and IRU At NewYork-Presbyterian/Brooklyn Methodist Hospital our Speech-Language Pathologists help adult patients experiencing serious impairments to connect with the world around them.
Our tremendous team provides the expertise patients need to flourish in the areas of swallowing and communication. Now, you can become one of the people who Make It Possible. Under the supervision of the Manager of Speech-Language Pathology, you will work with patients across the lifespan from the most acutely ill in our Adult ICUs, to the inpatient rehabilitation unit, to the outpatient setting. Help us continue to live up to our reputation as New York's top hospital. This is a per diem position working Thursdays and Fridays, with weekend and Holiday commitment at NYP Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Preferred Criteria Experience working with Trach/Vent patients Required Criteria Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology Certification of clinical competence in Speech-Language Pathology by the American Speech-Language-Pathology Association New York State Licensure in Speech-Language Pathology Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required Adult experience in inpatient and outpatient setting Experience in dysphagia evaluation/treatment across the lifespan Competency in Modified Barium Swallow Study and/or FEES Join a healthcare system where employee engagement is at an all-time high.
