Clinical Responsibilities Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders. Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluations and client goals. Provide evidence-based therapy to improve communication and swallowing function. Implement augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods as needed. Monitor progress and adjust therapy techniques and goals accordingly. Document patient progress, evaluations, and treatment plans accurately and promptly. Patient and Family Support Educate and counsel patients, caregivers, and family members on communication strategies and home-based practices. Collaborate with families to promote carryover of skills across environments. Address concerns with compassion, cultural sensitivity, and clear communication. Interdisciplinary Collaboration Collaborate with professionals such as occupational therapists, physical therapists, and physicians. Make referrals to other specialists when appropriate. Administrative & Compliance Maintain compliance with state licensure, national certification (e.g., ASHA CCCs), and continuing education requirements. Adhere to documentation standards, privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA/FERPA), and billing procedures. Contribute to program development, quality assurance, and clinical protocols as needed.
