TITLE:
SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST QUALIFICATIONS
As set by state certification authorities; SLP Certification preferred.
REPORTS TO
Assigned Principals; Director of Special Education
JOB GOAL
Help the students having communication disorders to achieve communication that will enable them to derive success from the District's educational programs commensurate with their capabilities while permitting satisfaction to themselves, and benefit to society.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Contributes to the development of the total school philosophy of education. To identify and evaluate students with communication disorders Distribute referral forms to all teachers Obtain written parent consent to evaluate students who demonstrate a need for assessment. Select proper evaluative materials as each individual warrants. To provide therapeutic services based upon appraisal and diagnosis. Determine a caseload on the basis of evaluation in accordance with State requirements. This may include pre-school children. Prepare and disseminate a master schedule and case list to the Principal and Director of Special Education. Provide individual and/or group therapy for students. Be a part of Eligibility/Placement Teams - formulate short and long term intervention goals and objectives to meet individual needs. Initiate, maintain, and continually up-date speech correction records at assigned schools. Review relevant case files including school and health records. Effect appropriate follow-up procedures for pupils dismissed from therapy. Guides, assists, and consults, when needed, with principals, teachers, other school personnel, and parents. Orient faculty as to policy and procedures. Plan and participate in IEP and Annual IEP Review Conferences as needed. Plan and conduct interim conferences with parents. Attends and participates in faculty meetings at home assigned buildings. Completes reports and other school related paperwork as required, at or before the time requested. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with co-workers. Accepts the responsibility and arrives punctually for activities and duties as assigned. Provides for professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, or conferences in area of expertise. Maintains appropriate emotional stability, physical health, personal appearance, and personality. Maintains order in therapy sessions in a fair and just manner.
THE FOLLOWING PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES MAY BE ASSIGNED TO A SPEECH PATHOLOGIST WITH A REDUCED CASE LOAD
Maintain an updated inventory of all speech equipment and materials owned by the Yukon School District. Maintain a duplicate file on each speech student and current list of students receiving speech services in the district. Administer specific speech-related tests as requested by the testing department.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT
182 Day contract Pay based on the teacher pay scale plus an additional 7.5% Additional $7,500 annual stipend
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
