Job Description
Two Positions Available The person in this position is under the general supervision of the Special Programs Director and is responsible for diagnosis, development, and/or delivery of appropriate educational therapy for students in grades K-12 with communication disorders. Speech Language Pathologists are awarded full experience credit for teaching experience outside of the district and may be awarded up to an additional five (5) steps beyond their actual experience toward initial placement as well as a yearly stipend equal to 5% of their annual salary. The district picks up the employees' share of Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) contributions.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Possess an Oregon license valid for assignment; Ability to meet the Junction City School District Standards of Competent Teacher Performance and the Oregon Standards for Professional Educators; Ability to provide appropriate instruction to students based on diagnosed needs; Ability to organize workload to cover assessment, instruction, conferencing, and IEP writing; Knowledge and understanding of special education law requirements; Demonstrated behavior management techniques; Ability to write, implement, and follow-up on IEPs for specific students receiving special education services in regular, resource, or other settings; Ability to implement District curriculum and state standards; Responsibility to know, understand, and adhere to District policy; Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, administrators, students, parents, patrons, and agency representatives; Ability to evaluate educational strengths and needs of students significantly behind in communication skills. Ability to determine most appropriate placement for students with communication difficulties, using the appropriate District-approved testing instruments or assessment results; Ability to monitor the progress of students and make any necessary program or placement changes; Ability to provide direction to instructional assistants assigned to assist with student instruction; Ability to professionally communicate with parents and teachers regarding students' learning abilities and needs.
