The Staff Speech Therapist is responsible for supervising and directing rehabilitation and Nursing staff to follow speech recommendations. The Staff Speech Therapist will also be directly involved in modifying and administering speech therapy modalities for treatment after evaluating a patient's speech and language limitations in Behavioral Health. Assist rehab.and nursing staff in achieving a patient's maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The Staff Speech Therapist communicates directly to the Director of Nursing. Responsibility of the Speech Therapist Include but are not limited to:
- Evaluate and develop short and long term goals that are within speech therapy guidelines
- Accurately document on a daily basis within the regulatory standards
- Develop treatment programs that are within speech therapy treatment diagnosis
- Communicate clearly to senior management, Physicians and staff
- Ability to be flexible and function accurately under stressful situations
- Reassess a patient's needs and to document the changes with the appropriate forms
- Attend and participate in departmental in-services and staff education sessions
- Assist in the implementation of the BHU policy and procedures.
Minimum Education:
Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Masters or Doctoral degree in Speech Therapy.
Experience:
Previous experience in all aspects of Speech Therapy preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and patients. Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Licenses/Certificates:
Current license as a Speech Therapist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Current CPR certification.
