Day Shift Speech and Language Pathologist Supervisor Stoughton MA Salary Range:

$101-130k annually depenign on experience and education General Responsibilities The Speech-Language Pathologist Supervisor is responsible to oversee all clinical duties including identification, diagnosis and therapy of individuals with communication disorders which are appropriate to the ages and populations served. Additional clinical duties of therapists include management of treatment delivered through direct therapeutic services, tracking information and consultative services as needed. Melmark New England serves children, adolescents and adults with autism spectrum disorders, acquired brain injury, neurological diseases and disorders, comorbid mental health disorders and severe challenging behaviors. Populations served are intensely physically challenging. The Speech Language Pathologist/Therapist position requires that staff be aware that students who are served may exhibit aggressive and/or self-injurious behavior. Students served may have had multiple treatment failures prior to this placement. Speech Language Pathologists/Therapists are expected to implement highly technical clinical and teaching programs that require Speech Language Pathologists/Therapists to be constantly alert, attentive and ready to respond to student's needs. Essential Functions Speech Language Pathologists/Therapists may be required to cover in the school program or alternative sites as based on the needs of the program. Observes student appearance and hygiene and reports concerns timely. Immediate nursing notification to Educational Coordinators of health issues appropriate to each child. Completes student daily well body checks and discovery of bruise. Evacuates students properly during fire and emergency drills. Promotes safety of self and students through adherence of safety policies which may include body positioning, physical management techniques, Universal precautions and proper lifting of students. Uses and maintains student adaptive equipment and/ or augmentative devices needed for students. Files an incident report immediately if any defects Demonstrates Professional Boundaries with students. Clinical interactions are positive and facilitates student learning and shaping. Provides direct coverage as needed. Implements IEP objectives as written and designed (each program must be implemented a minimum of one time per biweekly period per each objective per child); ensures maximum independence growth. Completes IOA on therapy related programs with staff a minimum of one time per month. Reviews graphs prior to academic meetings and adds notes to planning meeting notes or comes to meeting with notes prepared Collects, summarizes and presents baseline data in preparation for final planning meeting. Creates Goals and Objectives for final planning meeting. Follows timelines in the preparation and writing of IEP document. Communicates with curriculum coordinator on lesson plan needs. Conducts lesson plan/baseline-related trainings as needed. Ensures that Quarterly Progress Reports are reviewed Conducts thorough assessments/screenings upon student admission . Completes discharge summary as needed. Collaborates with team on determining the best three year evaluation tools. Completes 3 Year assessments thoroughly, relevant to the child and on time. Presents IEP/3 year evaluations in a professional manner (i.e., summarizes information, asks questions, clearly states goals and objectives, makes eye contact)

Basic Qualifications:

Education/Training:

Minimum of a Master's Degree as a Speech-Language Therapist from an Educational Services Board Approved (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association-ASHA) approved university program. Experience with augmentative communication and dysphagia.

Certifications/Licensure:

Must be CCC-SLP certified from the ASHA and certified as a Speech-Language Pathologist Supervisor with Massachusetts. A valid US driver's license and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old. Must be capable of attaining approved Melmark driver status. Must meet Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check requirements. Successful completion of employer provided certification in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, and Melmark's Orientation Program and New Hire Onsite training program. Skill(s): Strong clinical skills in Speech­/Language communication with emphasis on special needs people who maybe behaviorally, neurobehaviorally, and/or developmentally disabled in addition to their communication disabilities. Strong interpersonal skills required.

Experience:

Experience and/or training in augmentative communication, manual communication, clinical or practicum background with Developmentally Delayed, Emotionally/Behaviorally Disturbed, Cognitively Challenged, Autism, Pervasive Development Disorder and Brain Injured individuals.

Interrelationships:

Works cooperatively with all members of the multidisciplinary team (Nursing Services, Vocational Services, Clinical Services, Residential Staff, Allied Health Services) to ensure that each student's educational requirements are met. Apply Share Facebook Email Twitter LinkedIn
