Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program Active Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) Current state licensure or eligibility Previous experience in school settings preferred, especially with elementary-aged children Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills Familiarity with developing and implementing

IEPs Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders for elementary students Develop and implement individualized therapy plans in collaboration with educators and families Contribute to IEP meetings, provide documentation, and track student progress Work in both one-on-one and group settings Consult with teachers and staff to integrate speech and language supports into the classroom environment Educate parents and school staff about communication disorders and strategies for support Participate in ongoing professional development
