A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Job Description

HealthMark Rehabilitation is an inhouse therapy company, serving the Skilled Nursing Facility patients and residents of HMG facilities. We re currently seeking PRN CCC-Speech-Language Pathologists to evaluate and treat residents and short-term patients at our Methodist Transitional Care facility in Desoto, Texas. 109 Methodist Way, DeSoto, TX 75115 Responsibilities include:
  • Develop and implement the Speech-Language and/or Swallowing therapy plan of care for facility residents and short-term patients.
  • Assist as needed with patient screenings for the need for Speech-Language and/or Swallowing Therapy services.
  • Communicate progress and any barriers toward ST goals with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Complete timely ST documentation in compliance with regulatory, licensing, and payor requirements.
  • Assist with maintaining treatment and documentation areas in a safe manner, using good infection prevention methods.
  • Provide and document patient, family, and caregiver training regarding each ST patient s specific plan of care and recommendations for follow up.
  • Perform additional duties as required. Qualifications include :
  • Master s degree from an ASHA accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
  • Hold an active Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA.
  • Current Texas license in good standing as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Meet physical requirements to deliver ST responsibilities.
  • Experience in a geriatric rehabilitation setting preferred.
  • Successful completion of hiring process / background check.
