A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Per Diem Evaluates, plans, and implements specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of speech language pathology. Functions as an interdisciplinary team member providing patient assessment/re-assessment, direct patient care, and individualized care planning/implementation. Works with neonatal through geriatric patients with clinical competency, as applicable. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Responsibilities Responds to physician orders for speech therapy. Administers and interprets tests and measurements of patients. Reviews patient charts and progress prior to treatment, and modifies treatment plan accordingly. Develops functional goals based on patient and/or family expectations. Develops, improves, and restores cognitive skills, language comprehension, and language expression skills through comprehensive assessment and testing. Seeks clarification of physician orders as needed.Qualifications Required:
Master's degree in speech-language pathology/communication sciences and disordersPreferred:
