Job Description

Summary:
The Speech-Language Pathologist serves as a multidisciplinary team member to identify, evaluate, and serve students with disabilities who demonstrate communication needs. The Speech-Language Pathologist functions as a case manager for students with speech-language impairments and as a related service provider for students identified under other disability categories.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:
Conduct speech-language evaluations in accordance with eligibility and related service requirements and state-mandated special education timelines. Analyze assessment data, prepare comprehensive reports, and present findings as a member of eligibility committees and IEP teams. Collaborate with school staff and families to develop relative plans to address student needs. Serve as IEP case manager for students identified as having a speech-language impairment. Provide a continuum of speech-language services based upon current research and evidence based practices. Facilitate evaluation and individualized service plan activities for students with speech-language impairments who are parentally placed in homeschool or private school settings. Complete and maintain necessary documentation for Medicaid eligible students. Supervise SLP Assistant (SLPA) staff members, as needed. Provide fieldwork experience to SLP and SLPA students for Colleges/ Universities under contract, as needed. Abide by State statutes, School Board policies and regulations. Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, Division policy, and administrative regulations. Other duties, as assigned, through the immediate supervisor.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid school speech-language pathologist license issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology required. Experience providing services in the school setting with knowledge of the special education process preferred.
Salary:
Range for the 2026-2027 school year is $61,800 to $95,171 and includes pay for a master's degree.
