Essential Elements:
Print General Responsibilities Reporting directly to a Special Education Assistant Director, the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) provides speech and language services in the areas of student assessment, augmentative alternative communication devices, direct therapy, training and consultation to staff and families to support students to function to their highest possible level within the educational system. The Speech Language Pathologist participates as a member of an education team in the assessment and program evaluation for students. The SLP serves as a liaison with medical and community service providers on behalf of children with disabilities and their families.
Salary:
The full salary range for this position is $35,645.81 - $56,040.37. Salary placement is based on education and certificated experience.
Assignment/Location:

This role relies on regular and reliable attendance to ensure consistency for our students and help support a positive, productive learning environment.
Essential Functions/Other Functions Essential Functions:
Inform principals, teachers and other school personnel of speech, language and/or hearing services. Organize and conduct an identification program for communication disorders by utilizing screening criteria, materials, procedures and record-keeping strategies. Select and employ diagnostic procedures and develop guidelines for a comprehensive remediation program. Establish criteria for caseload selection and dismissal. Select and implement therapy strategies for modifying communicative behavior of each student with a speech, language and/or hearing disorder. Maintain a system to record all identification and evaluative data and continuous student performance information. Identify and define factors which determine the effectiveness of therapy. Redefine goals and modify therapy strategies consistent with the individual education plan (IEP) or the individual family service plan (IFSP). Consult with parents, educators and other professionals regarding needs of children/students to assure appropriate learning experiences. Complete all required reports and records for compliance within statutory guidelines. Provide technical assistance to communication technicians and assistants.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills Minimum Qualifications:
Hold or eligible to hold a Washington ESA speech language pathologist certificate. Completed all requirements for a master's degree with a major in speech pathology (except special project or thesis). Experience working with children with articulation and language disabilities. Experience in the identification, assessment, programming and evaluation of children with language disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in speech or speech pathology. Experience in P-12 education. Experience working with Washington state and federal laws relating to children with disabilities.
Working Conditions/Employment Requirements Working Conditions:
Travel within ESD 112 Special Education ESA service region. May be assigned to more than one school building/district.
Employment Requirements:
Successful completion of a criminal history fingerprint check through Washington State Patrol and FBI.
