SUPPORT RELATIONSHIPS
Works in designated schools that are determined by geographical location and student needs.
JOB GOAL
To work with students with speech and language impairments by providing speech-language therapy, working with parents and school personnel, and screening and evaluating students for possible eligibility.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Conducts speech-language screenings and re-screens for Kindergarten, WVPK, and students new to Kanawha County, and individually screens students who are referred for Special Education testing.
2) Schedules Multi-Disciplinary Education Team meetings for students with suspected speech or language impairments and completes referral process.
3) Evaluates and re-evaluates students with suspected speech or language impairments, completes written reports of evaluation results, and attends eligibility meetings to report results. Schedules eligibility meetings for students with speech services only.
4) Serves as case manager for students who are eligible for services under the category of Speech or Language Impairment.
5) Schedules meetings and writes Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students who are eligible for services under the category of Speech or Language Impairment.
6) Attends meetings and completes the Speech portion of IEPs for students who receive speech-language therapy as a related service.
7) Ensures all paperwork requirements are met within timelines per county, state, and federal guidelines.
8) Works with school personnel to create a weekly schedule for therapy services.
9) Provides speech-language therapy services to students with a Speech or Language Impairment and to students who receive speech-language therapy as a related service per students' IEPs.
10) Completes progress reports for all students served per IEP.
11) Completes all required components of Medicaid billing, which may include billing for direct therapy, Targeted Case Management, and Random Moment Time Study.
12) Attends SLP staff development/management meetings.
13) Completes required number of SLP-specific staff development hours.
14) Maintains inventory of materials and technology.
15) Maintains confidentiality and privacy of students and families by adhering to FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
16) May serve on Student Assistant Team or Progress Monitoring committees as designated by school.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
200 Days Salary in accordance with established pay schedule.
