Job Description
Job Summary Evaluates patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech, language, hearing, and oral motor disorders in different settings/situations. Responsibilities 1. Performs evaluations with special attention to repetitive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, articulation, swallowing, and auditory skills. Makes recommendations based on findings to Medical staff and works with physician to plan treatment based on findings. 2. Develops appointment schedules to have the maximum feasible therapeutic impact on the patient. 3. Maintains active and support communication with the patient regarding progress, problems, home programs and other issues related to the therapeutic process. Work closely with patients/families and other medical staff. 4. Attends patient care staffing, conferences and other related meetings. Attends meetings as required. 5. Coordinates, schedules, and works with the Radiology Department to arrange for MBSS. Works closely with radiologists during procedures. Dictates reports and follows up as needed with attending physician. 6. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment as needed. 7. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient ranging from newborn to geriatric. 8. Participates in educational programs and in service meetings. 9. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, supports quality assessment and performance improvement processes, adheres to safety, environmental and infection control standards. 10. Conforms to all State and Federal Regulations and Guidelines as they apply to documentation, treatment plans and standards of care. 11. Performs other duties as assigned. 12. Attends meetings as required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations.
