A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Job Description

We are looking for a part time Speech Language Pathologist for our Evanston, Wyoming Skilled Nursing Facility. Rocky Mountain Care in Evanston is the leading rehabilitation and skilled nursing care center in Wyoming. As with any nursing facility, the people are the difference. Our staff at Rocky Mountain Care in Evanston are trained to meet the individual needs of all of our residents in a kind, friendly manner. Our Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for the following: Evaluating levels of swallowing, speech and language difficulty Identifying treatment options Creating and carrying out individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs Teaching patients how to make sounds while improving their voices and maintaining fluency Helping individuals improve sentence structure and vocabulary used in written and oral language Working with patients in developing and strengthening muscles used to swallow Counseling individuals and families on ways to cope with swallowing and communication disorders Our Speech Language Pathologist will help deliver individualized attention and care to our patients. Our Speech Language Pathologist's goal is to restore our patients' quality of life. Our SLP will work with our patients and their families to restore our residents' highest level of independence. Our occupational, speech, and physical therapists help our residents increase their strength and re-learn living skills that may enable them to return home or to lesser levels of care.
