Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders. Valid Florida license as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
One (1) year of direct experience. Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills. Knowledge of pertinent regulations, policies, and procedures for the functional area of assignment. Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention. Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications. Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.Revised:
6/26/23 Responsibilities Provide direct therapy to students following a plan of care and protocol developed by the supervising SLP. Document student performance (e.g., tallying data for the SLP to use; preparing charts, records, and graphs) and report this information to the supervising SLP. Prepare therapy materials according to the plan of care. Adhere to a daily schedule developed with the supervising SLP. Assist the SLP with speech, language, and hearing screenings without clinical interpretation. Follow documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising SLP. Program and provide instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices. Assist with clerical duties, such as preparing materials and scheduling activities, as directed by the SLP. Perform Medicaid administrative claims reimbursable activities as directed in accordance with Chapter 3 of the federally approved School District Administrative Claiming (SDAC) Guide.
