POSITION
Speech-Language Pathology Assistant
JOB GOAL
Under supervision of a certified Speech-Language Pathologist, the SLPA completes a variety of tasks to develop communication skills of students with diagnosed speech and language disorders/delays.
QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology; Bachelor Degree; Experience in school based practice preferred. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
REPORTS TO
Supervising SLP, Principal and Director of Special Education or designee.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Follows and implements documented treatment plans; Collects and analyzes student progress data; Conducts speech and language screenings without interpretation; Prepares materials and activities for therapy sessions; Prepares accommodations/modifications to promote access to the curriculum for use in classrooms; Models and promotes communication development strategies for school staff Other duties requested by the Principal.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
May be required to sit on the floor or sit in small low to the ground chairs. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
