DeSales University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track faculty position in our Communication Sciences & Disorders Department. Along with dedicated classroom and clinical laboratory space in our recently renovated Wills Hall, the Speech Language Pathology (SLP) program shares classrooms, a human gross anatomy laboratory, and a state-of-the-art Simulation Center with students in our nationally recognized nursing, physical therapy, and physician assistant science programs. The SLP program hosts the University Speech Clinic providing treatment for underserved populations across diagnoses, the lifespan, and the diversity of backgrounds in our community. With differentiated tracts and a global mindset, we have significant impact on the greater Lehigh Valley community, student learning, and faculty growth and contribution to the field. The program offers undergraduate majors (3+2 accelerated, traditional 4-year) and the degree of Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology. The graduate program prepares students for entry level practice as speech-language pathologists with the opportunity to gain clinical experience across a range of settings including our own on-campus Clinic. Job Description Qualifications include a doctorate (PhD, EdD, CScD) (ABD considered), CCC-SLP or eligibility, evidence of research activity, and commitment to effective classroom teaching. We are specifically seeking applicants with expertise in the following areas: Dysphagia Head and neck cancer Voice Motor speech disorders This position is accountable for the following: Teaching, scholarship and service responsibilities consistent with university expectations for full-time faculty members Teaching core curriculum and other courses based on areas of content knowledge and when appropriate supervising students within areas of clinical expertise in the University Speech & Hearing Clinic Understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity - in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation - through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement Providing effective, ongoing communication with clinical educators and students while monitoring and documenting the academic performance of students to assure that they successfully achieve the outcomes for completing the program Establishing and maintaining a plan for self-development that includes participation in and enhancement of teaching and development of scholarly activities consistent with the SLP program, CAA, and University expectations All faculty members at DeSales are expected to contribute to university, division and program level service, including student advisement, scholarly activity and professional development, and support the university, college, and program's missions and visions and advance the strategic plan.

Minimum Requirements:

Doctorate in relevant field (ABD may be considered) Knowledge of communication disorders across the lifespan Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills An awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience Preferred Requirements PhD (ABD may be considered) Pennsylvania licensure (or eligible) in Speech-Language Pathology Prior teaching experience at the graduate level with demonstrated understanding of adult learning theory and principles Membership in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is highly valued Review of applications begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
