Therapy Clubhouse is hiring a Speech Language Pathology Assistant to start October 15, 2026. You will work between a rented local office we are using for evaluations and private sessions, family homes across the Conejo Valley, and, from December 1, our new Westlake Village clinic and sensory gym. We are looking for someone who already lives here. This is a local role built around a geographically clustered caseload, not a territory you commute an hour to reach.

WHY WE ARE WRITING THIS LISTING DIFFERENTLY ASHA

surveyed SLPAs nationally in 2023 and asked what was hardest about the job. Pay and benefits came first, at 52 percent. Then, tied at 36 percent: employers who do not understand what an SLPA actually is, and never having enough time for documentation. Underneath those numbers were three findings we could not read past. Fewer than half of employers have a written supervision protocol. Fewer than half define the SLPA role in writing at all. And 28 percent of SLPAs get paid nothing when a client cancels or no-shows. So here is what we commit to, in writing, before you apply: Every hour you work is paid. Sessions, documentation, parent coaching, team meetings, and drive time between clients. You will not be writing notes for free at 9pm. You are paid for cancellations and no-shows. If a family cancels on you, that is our problem to solve, not a hole in your paycheck. You get a written supervision plan. What Nita observes, how often, how feedback reaches you, and who to call when something comes up mid-session. You get a written scope of role. What is yours to do, what is not, and where the line sits. You should never have to guess whether you are allowed to do something.

WHO WE ARE

Therapy Clubhouse is a pediatric speech and occupational therapy practice serving children ages 0 to 18 across the Conejo Valley and Ventura County. We deliver in home and telehealth therapy today, and our Westlake Village clinic with a dedicated sensory gym opens December 1, 2026. We are a contracted and vendorized Early Start provider with Tri Counties Regional Center, and we also serve private pay families. We were founded by two clinicians who are also moms, and who still run sessions themselves: Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP, Co-Founder and Lead Speech Language Pathologist. CSUN trained, ASHA certified, California licensed, PROMPT trained, with experience across early intervention, private practice, and school based settings. She will be your supervising SLP, and she is the person you will actually learn from. Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L, Co-Founder and Lead Occupational Therapist. USC trained with USC Ayres Sensory Integration certification, NBCOT board certified and licensed by the California Board of Occupational Therapy. We are small on purpose. You will be one of a handful of clinicians, not a name on a roster, and you will have a real say in how the clinic and the sensory gym get used.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Deliver treatment written and assigned by your supervising SLP, in family homes, at our office, by telehealth, and from December in our clinic. Run screenings using protocols Nita develops, following them as written. Prepare materials and set up sessions. Coach and communicate with families about the work in front of you. Document sessions accurately and on time, during paid work hours. Track progress data and report it back to Nita so she can adjust the plan. Manage your own daily route within a geographically clustered caseload.

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT

Being straight with you, because California is specific about this and too many employers are vague until there is a problem. As an SLPA you will not conduct evaluations or interpret assessment data, alter a treatment plan, discharge a client, make outside referrals, or sign treatment plans or formal reports. You will not attend a parent conference or IEP meeting without an SLP present. Nita carries clinical responsibility for every service you deliver, and she takes that seriously. None of this is a comment on your ability. It is the scope, it is the same everywhere in California, and we would rather you read it here than discover it in month three.

WHAT WE PAY

Hourly rate: $36 to $44 an hour, W-2, depending on experience and credentials. Every hour is paid, including documentation, drive time between clients, and paid cancellations and no-shows.

Mileage:

reimbursed at the current IRS standard business rate, 76 cents per mile as of September 2026.

Health insurance:

available starting on day 91, after the 90 day introductory period.

Also included:

workers compensation, California paid sick leave, and overtime.

IF YOU ARE HEADED TO GRAD SCHOOL, SAY SO

Most SLPAs are. Nationally, about six in ten intend to pursue a master's in speech language pathology. We are not going to pretend that is a problem or screen you out for it. What we will do is help. A supervising SLP who will write you a real letter of recommendation, not a template. Scheduling that flexes around classes and application deadlines. Deliberately varied caseload exposure, because programs weight breadth. And guaranteed hours, so a changed class schedule does not cost you the job. If you get in, we would rather have had you for two good years and helped you get there. If you want to come back to us as a clinical fellow afterward, that door is open.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You live in or near the Conejo Valley or Ventura County. Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Oak Park, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Camarillo, Oxnard, or Ventura. You are willing to drive to families' homes. Reliable car, and you see the value in treating a child in the room where they actually live. We pay your drive time and your miles, and we cluster your caseload, but this is a driving job. New graduates are genuinely welcome. REQUIREMENTS

Current California Speech Language Pathology Assistant license from the Speech Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board, active on your start date. An associate degree from a Board approved SLPA program, or a bachelor's degree in speech language pathology or communication disorders plus the required Board approved fieldwork. Valid California driver's license, reliable vehicle, and personal auto insurance meeting California minimums (30/60/15). Cleared Live Scan (DOJ and FBI) background check, current TB clearance, and U.S. work authorization (I-9). CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it. Employment is contingent on verification of your license, background check, TB clearance, and work authorization.

NICE TO HAVE

Pediatric experience, especially early intervention. Regional center experience, particularly Tri Counties. Comfort with a play based, neurodiversity affirming approach. Bilingual Spanish, strongly preferred. HOURS This is posted as full time. If you are currently working in a school and can only do afternoons, tell us anyway. We would rather build a part time schedule around a good clinician now and revisit full time in June than wait for a perfect match.
