Job Description Summary The Division of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek a motivated, doctoral-level (i.e., Ph.D., Ed.
D.) speech-language pathologist to serve as a core faculty member in the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program. The anticipated start date is August 2026. ABD candidates with anticipated degree by August 2026 will be considered. Entity Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC

Key responsibilities:
Teaching and instruction Deliver high-quality instruction in the SLP program across in-person and remote learning environments, as aligned with areas of expertise Collaborate with SLP faculty, the student services coordinator, and other college, university and community partners to ensure a high-quality educational experience Contribute to a dynamic, active-learning educational environment that integrates didactic and clinical training Research and scholarship Develop and sustain a focused scholarly agenda (clinical, translational, and/or basic science research) Disseminate scholarship through peer-reviewed publications and presentations Pursue and secure extramural funding to support an active research program Service Participate in academic service, including student advising and committee work Engage in professional and community service activities consistent with faculty expectations Clinical practice Provide clinical services within MUSC Health approximately one day per week Collaborate with clinical partners to support teaching, training, and research initiatives Supervise current SLP graduate students We seek a colleague with a passion for graduate education and training, strong collaboration skills, openness to feedback, an enjoyment of working in a team environment, and a commitment to continuous quality improvement; these qualities align with the MUSC College of Health Professions' core values: Compassion, Collaboration, Innovation, Integrity, and Respect . The SLP Grad Program The Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology Program received initial accreditation from the Council on Academic Accreditation in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology in July 2025. The program is grounded in evidence-based practice across didactic and clinical education. The educational philosophy emphasizes motivated, adult learners actively solving problems that they will experience during the evaluation and treatment of patients, guided by experts (i.e., active learning). The curriculum follows a lock-step progression with coursework intentionally sequenced to build upon and align with students' clinical experiences each semester. Students participate in clinical experiences across all six semesters, with a full-time practicum culminating in their final semester. Each clinical experience is paired with a didactic course allowing for specific learning objectives and evidence of mastery to be emphasized to ensure that students acquire the breadth and depth of knowledge and skills needed to practice as an SLP. The SLP program is housed in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences in the College of Health Professions within an academic health science center known for excellence in education, clinical care, and research. The College is a national leader in education, scholarship, and research. At MUSC, we have active clinical practices (in-patient and out-patient) with 35+ full-time SLPs and 10+ PRN SLPs.
