Job Description

Category Schools - SLPA Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by providing essential support in school-based speech-language services throughout multiple locations near Alexandria, VA. This contract opportunity is tailored for professionals passionate about helping children develop their communication skills in an educational setting for the 2026-2027 school year.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Speech or Communication Disorders is required. Possession of a current Virginia SLP license (note: an SLPA license is not recognized in Virginia). Previous experience or training in school-based settings is strongly preferred. Flexibility and willingness to travel between multiple school locations within the district. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative team approach. Candidates must provide their residential ZIP code during the application process.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support licensed SLPs in the assessment, planning, and delivery of speech-language services to students. Assist in implementing IEP goals and providing direct support to learners as directed by supervising SLPs. Maintain detailed records of student progress, session activities, and communication logs. Collaborate with teachers, families, and school staff to facilitate optimal student outcomes. Contribute actively to team meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required. Uphold ethical and professional standards in all interactions with students and colleagues. This contract position offers a consistent weekly schedule of 35 hours (7 hours per day) and the opportunity to gain valuable school-based experience within a supportive and dynamic environment.
