ASSISTANT SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST 2026-27

Roanoke County Public Schools is currently seeking applicants for a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) for the 2026-27 school year.

Position Description/Job Summary :

Speech Language Pathology Assistants (SLPA) supplement the services of the Speech Language Pathologists (SLP). An SLPA is not allowed to practice independently and must be supervised by qualified staff. SLPAs may not be used to provide services to the caseload in the absence of qualified SLP.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks :

Assisting the speech-language pathologist with screening; Assisting the speech-language pathologist with copying, distributing, and filing special education forms, and contacting parents to set up meetings; Preparing materials; Assisting with transporting children to and from services (within the school); and Monitoring the child's performance, following the directions provided by the speech languagepathologist and only after the speech-language pathologist has verified that the assistant can accurately gather the data.

Minimum Job Requirements/Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in speech-language pathology (preferred). Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
