Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)

PM Start Date:

September 28, 2026 Duties Perform decontamination of used surgical instruments and medical equipment using appropriate sterilization techniques. Assemble, inspect, and package sterilized instruments, ensuring compliance with sterilization standards and manufacturer guidelines. Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies, monitor stock rotation, and coordinate procurement to prevent shortages. Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and endoscope reprocessors with precision. Maintain detailed records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and quality assurance documentation. Execute endoscope reprocessing procedures following strict aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Adhere to infection prevention management protocols by applying healthcare infection prevention and control best practices. Assist in the training of new staff on proper sterilization methods, instrument handling, and infection control procedures. Conduct routine quality checks on sterilized items to ensure compliance with safety standards. Support the overall sterile processing workflow by collaborating closely with surgical teams and clinical staff.
