Supply Technician -
Central Sterile SUMMARY:
The Central Sterile Supply Technician coordinates the overall cleaning, decontamination, assembly and dispensing of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies needed for daily surgical procedures in surgery, nursing units, and hospital-owned clinics.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
No experience required; entry level position. On the job training program available, willing to train individuals with a desire and initiative to learn.
Other:
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively. Basic computer knowledge required.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without an accommodation. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing to solve problems and to make decisions. Ability to frequently stand in place while setting up instrument trays and walk; frequently bend, stoop, squat, and twist up to or exceeding 8 to 12 hours during shift. Keen sense of hearing and visual acuity. Able to push/pull cart in excess of 200 pounds with equipment using proper body mechanics. Lifts instrument trays up to 25 pounds multiple times during shift using proper body mechanics. Occasionally must wear face shield/mask and work in the presence of washers, de-contaminators, Steris units and sterilizers. Must work with a variety of chemicals required in the decontamination and sterilization of instruments and equipment used in surgical cases.
Work Environment :
This is a position in a hospital setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year On call rotation required . Potential for work on rotating shifts. Holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
