Job Description

Job Summary:
Under immediate supervision - cleans, decontaminates, packages, sterilizes, stores and distributes medical instruments, supplies in accordance with
TITLE 22
requirements and The Joint Commission standards. Fills requests from user areas.
Essential Responsibilities:
Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibility and applicable state, federal and local laws. Disassembles, cleans and decontaminates medical instruments, supplies and equipment using approved disinfectants, detergent soap, ultrasonic cleaning Assembles, inspects, test, wraps an dates medial instruments, supplies and equipment using such guides as illustrated manuals or lists aseptically Notifies Supervisor of needed repairs Use of sterilizers for all processed medical supplies and equipment Issues according to priority of need; delivers equipment and supplies as needed Updates equipment inventory by logging in and out equipment with current program (SPM) Cleans, disinfects patient equipment as needed Biological testing on Sterilizers Observes sterile technique Cleans and maintains GI scopes according to manufacture IFUs (instructions for use) and hospital policy Reviews OR preference cards to supply instruments Promotes, ensures and improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent with the organizations philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations and quality service Performs other duties as required Assumes other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Experience N/A Education High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration N/A Additional Requirements:
Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, basic microbiology, basic anatomy and physiology Ability to learn and apply comprehensive knowledge of surgical instruments to distinguish appropriate instruments and to distinguish sterile from non-sterile and soiled Basic computer knowledge Ability to lift 60 pounds and move in excess of 200 pounds Ability to tolerate standing Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a stressful environment Ability to distinguish and hear audible alarms
Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year recent experience as an SPD Tech or Surgical Tech Certification from IAHCSMM or CBSPD preferred Completion of Accredited Sterile Processing Program including 400 clinical hours or a Surgical Tech Program Medical Terminology preferred
