Scripps Mercy Hospital has served central and downtown San Diego since 1890 and is the oldest medical center in the county. The San Diego campus is located near the corner of 5th Avenue and Washington Street in Hillcrest. Scripps Mercy Hospital consists of two campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista. Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego's campus includes the O'Toole Breast Care Center, a 24-hour emergency room that is a Level I Trauma Center, outpatient physical rehabilitation, minimally invasive robotic surgery and our childbirth unit (including a Level II neonatal intensive care unit). Bonus eligible! Details below. This is a benefited, full time position working night shift on varied days from 1900-0330. Holidays and weekends required on a rotating basis. Prime Location:

What you'll do: Responsible for the cleaning, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments, equipment, and supplies used in procedures for patient care. Cleans and disinfects equipment requiring decontamination or sterilization according to designated principles of asepsis. Responds to immediate requests for sterilization or delivery of sterilized instruments to insure there is no patient exposure to bioburden. Responsible for testing and recording of sterilizer equipment performance to ensure operating within sterility standards. Maintains established control systems for supplies and equipment processed. This position is eligible for up to $4k in New Hire Retention Incentives and relocation up to $3k if moving from 100+ miles away. Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
Completion of college training program for SPD or online study program or completion of formal on the job training program. Knowledge of sterilizers, surgical instrumentation, and medical equipment. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or CBSPD Certification. One year of experience in SPD in lieu of certification acceptable upon hire, OR hired into Scripps Sterile Processing Tech Transition Program, but CRCST or CBSPD Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Experience:
3 years of SPD experience in a hospital setting. Position Pay Range:
$28.88-$39.71/hour
