Job Description
Description The SPD is responsible for assisting with direct patient care activities in the Operating Room. Prepares and stocks the Operating Room before and after surgery, gathers clean and sterile supplies, sets sterile instrument fields, maintains and monitors aseptic techniques. Assists with proper positioning of patient while maintaining the privacy and dignity of the patient.

Supports clinical practice by preparing surgical trays and instruments, utilizing preference cards, anticipating supply needs, handling specimens correctly, and assisting with irrigation solutions under supervision. Manages equipment by ensuring proper function, performing quality checks, troubleshooting, supporting sterilization processes, and training others on equipment use. Maintains a safe environment of care by properly disposing of waste, sharps, and specimens, and demonstrating knowledge of OR safety and emergency procedures. Demonstrates professional communication and customer service by exercising sound judgment, maintaining patient privacy and dignity, and engaging in proactive, thoughtful caregiving behaviors. Qualifications At least 6 months Sterile processing knowledge and experience.Coursework/Training High-Level Disinfection:
Training in decontamination, processing, sterilization, quality control Flexible scope reprocessing.
