About the Role As a Sterile Processing Tech II, you will be responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and distributing medical instruments and supplies for patient care. You will play a vital role in infection control and patient safety by ensuring all equipment meets the highest industry standards.Key Responsibilities:
Decontamination & Sterilization:
Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment per AAMI standards.Instrument Preparation:
Inspect, assemble, and wrap surgical trays and equipment for use.Inventory Management:
Maintain supply levels and ensure timely distribution to patient care areas.Equipment Handling:
Operate specialized medical sterilization equipment safely and efficiently.- Patient Support (Cedar Falls location only): Transport patients and assist nursing staff with pre-operative procedures. What You Need to Succeed
Education:
High school diploma or GED required. Specialized training in sterile processing preferred.Experience:
Minimum 6 months of experience working with surgical instruments or patient care support.Skills & Knowledge:
Familiarity with medical terminology and sterilization techniques. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize urgent requests. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Work Environment & Physical Requirements- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs; push/pull up to 150 lbs.
- Exposure to sterilization equipment, potential infectious materials, and a high-paced hospital setting.
- Must be comfortable working under pressure and following strict safety protocols.
