In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper sterilization, decontamination, and preparation of surgical instruments and medical equipment to support safe patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of sterile processing procedures, infection prevention protocols, and medical terminology. Your expertise will directly contribute to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and healthcare quality. Responsibilities Perform decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and reprocessing of surgical instruments and medical devices in accordance with established protocols. Assemble, inspect, and package sterile instruments and equipment to ensure readiness for surgical procedures. Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies and medical equipment, ensuring timely replenishment and proper storage. Operate specialized sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and endoscope reprocessors with precision. Follow strict aseptic techniques and infection control practices to prevent cross-contamination. Maintain detailed records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and quality assurance documentation. Conduct routine inspections of sterilized items for integrity and functionality; report any discrepancies or damages. Collaborate with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals to ensure the availability of sterile supplies. Adhere to hospital policies regarding infection prevention management and healthcare infection control standards. Stay current with industry best practices related to sterile processing, endoscope reprocessing, and surgical instrument handling. Qualifications Proven experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare environment, with knowledge of medical equipment sterilization and handling. Familiarity with sterile processing medical instrument assembly, packaging, and inventory management. Strong understanding of physiology and anatomy relevant to surgical procedures. Knowledge of infection prevention management principles and healthcare infection control standards. Proficiency in operating medical equipment used in sterilization processes. Excellent attention to detail and adherence to aseptic techniques during all stages of processing. Ability to interpret medical terminology accurately and communicate effectively within a healthcare team. Certification in sterile processing or equivalent training is preferred but not mandatory; relevant on-the-job experience is highly valued.
