Job Description
Sterile Processing Technologist | Part Time 40hr biweekly At Meritus Health, every role contributes to safe, high-quality care—and our Sterile Processing Technicians are no exception. In this vital position, you'll ensure that surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment are meticulously cleaned, inspected, assembled, and sterilized to support safe procedures and positive patient outcomes. You'll work behind the scenes but make a frontline impact—supporting surgical teams, protecting patients from infection, and helping the hospital run smoothly. Key Responsibilities Clean, inspect, and test reusable medical equipment and surgical instruments for proper function and cleanliness Identify and report defects or concerns in instrumentation Assemble instrument trays and equipment according to established procedures and standards Operate sterilization equipment and follow protocols to ensure proper sterilization of supplies Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles and inventory Provide timely and efficient sterile supply services to departments across the medical center Uphold infection prevention standards and contribute to a safe surgical environment Minimum Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required Experience Basic knowledge of surgical instrumentation preferred Prior experience in sterile processing or healthcare support roles is a plus Licensure/Certification Current sterile processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CBSPD) preferred Willingness to obtain certification within a designated timeframe may be considered Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic understanding of microbiology and infection control principles preferred Attention to detail and commitment to safety Ability to follow procedures and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and teamwork skills Willingness to learn and grow within the sterile processing field Caring for Our Team We are committed to supporting the well-being and professional development of our team members through a comprehensive benefits package, which includes: Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance Coverage begins on the first of the month following your hire date .
