SUMMARY A
sterile process technician sterilizes and assembles the instrumentation and equipment required for surgery, exams and other medical procedures. Responsible for taking inventory and ordering equipment. Responsible for maintaining instruction for use of instrumentation and equipment used for sterilization processes. Responsible for maintaining Hazardous Materia list for the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Decontaminates and/or sterilizes instruments, medical supplies, and equipment. Assembles, wraps, and sterilizes trays of instruments for the health system. Follows proper precautions for indicated work based on hospital policy. Monitors biological and chemical wash solutions to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment. Restocks, labels, and maintains inventory, submits requisitions, collects, and distributes instruments, and trays. Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room and in the equipment storage areas. Verifies that equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair or replacements and removes defective equipment. Assists in transporting patients for discharge and positioning patients as needed in the OR. Dons cap and mask, prepares for and dresses in sterile gown and rubber gloves, follows PPE guidelines. Assists in educating staff on the policies and procedures to be followed in Central Supply. Re-sterilization of unused sterile supplies. Care and storage of delicate instruments. Cleaning of contaminated operating rooms. Care and disposal of infectious linen. Supports the policies and procedures of the organization and the standards of the Joint Commission as required for full accreditation. Performs High-Level Disinfection and Sterilization procedures according to both the manufacturer's instructions and evidence-based guidelines. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE CSR/SPD
experience preferred. One-year surgical experience within the last five years is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Central Service/Instrument Specialist Certification and/or Surgical Technician Certification. Certified Registered Central Service Technician is required within 6 months after the orientation has been completed. BLS certification. Welia Health is an equal opportunity employer
