Requirements The OR Sterilizer is responsible for preparing, sterilizing and cleaning all surgical instruments used and required for surgeries and medical procedures. OR Sterilizer Responsibilities Applies sanitary, infection control and safety standards in preparing and sanitizing surgical instruments Accurately and safely handles instruments in accordance with our sterilization process Accurately and safely handles sterile processing equipment and ensures equipment is properly working at all times; should equipment malfunction, immediately escalates to Clinical Manager for assistance if unable to resolve Correctly peel-packs supplies/instruments, wraps instruments for sterilization, inspect each instrument for use, function, completeness and cleanliness Documents and maintains accurate sterilization records Performs simple maintenance on equipment (i.e., clean filters and drains) Prepares trays for designated areas according to policies and procedures Documents and maintains inventory of supplies and materials Education & Experience High School Diploma minimum requirement Holds and maintains an active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Excellent verbal and written communication across various audiences (i.e., staff, patients, physicians) Strong listening skills with the ability to quickly comprehend instructions from OR staff team members Excellent team player Bilingual - Spanish / English Preferred
