Job Description
Step into a vital, behind-the-scenes role that directly impacts patient safety and surgical success. As a Sterile Processing Technician at Franciscan Healthcare, you'll be at the heart of healthcare operations ensuring that every surgical instrument and medical device is expertly cleaned, sterilized, and ready for use when it matters most. Working alongside surgical teams and healthcare professionals, you'll manage critical equipment, maintain inventory, and uphold the highest standards of safety and compliance. Hours:
Minimum 36 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 9:00am- 6:30pm, on-call and holiday rotation, including nights and weekends.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Decontaminate, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment following established protocols and safety standards. Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage, ensuring only safe and effective tools are used in patient care. Operate and maintain sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers, documenting processes accurately. Manage inventory of sterile supplies, restocking and organizing as needed to support surgical and procedural schedules. Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments and respond promptly to urgent requests. Cleaning operating room and perioperative areas. Answering phones, transferring calls to appropriate individuals. Ability to follow detailed instructions.QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Basic knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control standards. Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or ability to obtain certification. Experience working in a hospital or surgical center environment preferred. Other Competencies Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle medical instruments safely. Familiarity with healthcare regulations such as OSHA and AAMI standards strongly preferred. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Preferred candidate will be detail oriented, pay close attention to infection control risks, and a strong sense of self-accountability.Similar remote jobs
