https://www.nnmc.com This Sterile Processing Department Manager opportunity is a full-time position on our Sterile Processing Unit and offers full time benefits and a convenient schedule. We are looking for a dynamic Sterile Processing Department Manager is responsible for oversight and local operations management of the Sterile Processing Department areas supporting Surgical Services, various nursing units, and off-site clinics. Ensures coordinated and timely delivery of reprocessed items to clinical stakeholders within the health care organization. Ensures local facility sterilization and HLD functions comply with all regulatory requirements. Manages SPD personnel and serves as liaison between SPD and other departments. Maintains effective interdepartmental relationships, coordinates and resolves problems, and ensures cooperation with other programs and services.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Collaborates with Infection Prevention staff, as well as hospital and clinic leadership to monitor, develop and implement quality assurance and performance improvement activities (audits) related to continuous readiness, quality, service and workflow. Maintains instructions, polices, and operational performance expectations based upon industry guidelines, standards, regulations, and best practices including, but not limited to the Agency of Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN), Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy ( ASGE), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA), The Joint Commission (TJC), and the World Health Organization (WHO). Maintains staff scheduling (timekeeping) to ensure operational support requirements are met for the OR and supported clinical areas. Qualifications Requirements:
Associate Degree in Healthcare obtained within two years of employment. Bachelor's degree in science or healthcare preferred. Five (5) years minimum in Sterile Processing with increasing responsibility. Prior management experience preferred.
License/Certification:
Maintains currency with four SPD certifications (CRCST, CHL, CIS, CER through IAHCSMM) or (CSPDT, CSPM, CSIS, CFER through CBSPD) within three years of employment. Due to the highly technical nature, especially related to interpretation of manufacturer's IFUs, ALL SPD staff must be proficient in spoken and written English.
