ASC Sterile Processing Technician
SUPERVISOR
Director of Surgery Centers
HOURS PER WEEK
40hrs/Non-Exempt (Monday - Friday 5x8 hour shifts)

$19.46 - $26.35
Certified Pay Range:
$24.04 - $32.54 Seeking sterile processing technician for busy multi-specialty surgery center. No nights, weekends, holidays or call.
HIRING BONUS
$1,000 after 90 days The following information is designed to outline the essential functions and position requirements of this job. It does not identify all tasks that may be expected, nor address the performance standards that must be maintained.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Performs technical tasks that support clinical operations. The focus of this position is the decontamination and reprocessing of instrument sets and reusable sterile supplies. Included responsibility is the preparation of case carts for upcoming days' surgery.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS
) 1. Adherent to current standards of practice/infection control as developed by agency standards.
  • 2. Responsible for the proper cleaning and sterilization of individual instruments/sets per manufacturer recommendations.
  • 3. Maintain and update instrument sets and reusable sterile supply lists.
  • 4. Ensure all loaner instruments/sets are properly identified and cared for and are returned to the proper institution/vendor in clean and/or sterile condition.
  • 5. Perform semi-annual physical inventories on instrumentation.
  • 6. Immediately remove any damaged instrumentation from service, and communicates such with appropriate individuals.
  • 7. Maintain all autoclaves, washer-decontaminators, Sterrad and Steris load documentation.
  • 8. Participates in cleaning and upkeep of washers and autoclaves.
  • 9. Monitor and document all biological testing for autoclaves and Sterrad machine.
  • 10. Immediately report any discrepancies or positive results in required testing to the appropriate individual.
  • 11. Assist in maintaining prescribed levels of sterile and non-sterile supplies for the operating room, as assigned.
  • 12. Participate in preparation of the next day case cart supplies in a timely manner.
  • 13. Participate in timely delivery of instruments/supplies for in-progress cases as needed.
  • 14. May assist in the transport of instruments from the operating room to dirty utility room in a timely manner to assure all instruments are cleaned and sterilized before the day they are needed.
  • 15. May assist in the turnover of operating rooms, as needed. 16. Maintain current knowledge of all policies and procedures.
  • 17. Uses appropriate PPE at all times.
  • 18. Attend staff meetings.
  • 19. Uses appropriate use of PPE for patient care and other settings where required.
  • 20. Be an active participant in committees (i.e. Safety Committee, Infection Control).
  • 21. Participate in orienting new staff.
  • 22. Maintain regular, in person, work attendance and punctuality, as scheduled.
  • 23. Understand hazard risk and demonstrate complete understating of established emergency procedures for the Surgery Center.
  • 24. Reports incidences or issues through chain of command and maintains confidentiality. Complete all employee/patient incident documentation in a thorough and timely manner.
  • 25. Assist/floats to other departments as needed. 26. Follows rights of medication administration, appropriately signs out medications.
  • 27. Employees will not be discourteous or disrespectful to a customer or any member of the public while in the course and scope of company business.
  • 28. Work in a cooperative manner with management/supervision, coworkers, patients and vendors.
  • 29. Abide by company policies.
  • 30. Demonstrate competent usage of proper body mechanics in all activities.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
High School diploma or equivalent Current CPR certification Must obtain Sterile Processing Certification within 1 year of employment
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Working knowledge of all phases of instrument decontamination and sterilization/central processing, to include but not limited to theory, practice and standards
PREFERENCES
