Category Nursing - Sterile Processing Tech Job Type Contract Step into a key support role ensuring patient safety and high standards in surgical services as a certified Sterile Processing Technician. This contract opportunity allows you to contribute vital expertise in decontaminating, inspecting, sterilizing, and distributing medical instruments crucial for surgical and clinical procedures.
Qualifications:
Current Sterile Processing Technician Certification required Proven experience in a hospital, clinic, or surgical center setting Familiarity with sterilization standards, infection control protocols, and use of autoclaves and other equipment Ability to handle, assemble, and inspect surgical instruments with high attention to detail Strong communication and teamwork skills Up-to-date knowledge of best practices in sterile processing and safety guidelines Physical capacity to lift, stand, and move for extended periods
Primary Responsibilities:
Clean, decontaminate, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays Operate washers, sterilizers, and other processing equipment per manufacturer instructions and facility policy Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, inventory, and maintenance Inspect and test instrumentation for proper functionality before distribution Follow standard precautions and safety protocols to minimize risk of infection Collaborate with nursing staff and surgical teams to ensure timely equipment availability Troubleshoot and report any unsafe equipment or malfunctions
