Sterile Processing Technician

Job Description

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for maintaining stock and ordering necessary supplies, decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies, instruments and equipment dispensed by the department following infection control practices.. In addition is responsible for preparing supplies for cases, setting up and maintaining the sterile field, passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon, readying used instruments for the cleaning and re-sterilization process. Has completed all necessary educational and testing requirements for national certification. Must be conscientious with regard to procedures and all duties relative to the department. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Sterile Processing Tech Certification required within two years of hire
Experience:
Knowledge of medical terminology and medical equipment and supplies. Minimum of 1-year previous experience as Sterile Processing/Surgical Scrub Technician preferred but not required. Must speak, read and write English well. Good math skills.
